Survey of IT executives shows gaps and lack of confidence in cyber defenses

“Urgent attention” required for risk mitigation.

Despite increases in spending on cybersecurity, only 31% of information technology executives at large organizations in the United States and United Kingdom express a high degree of confidence in their organizations’ ability to mitigate or prevent digital threats.

The finding comes from The State of Enterprise Digital Defense, released in August by digital threat management company RiskIQ, which sponsored the research by IDG Connect.

Of 465 responding decision-makers, 68% have no to modest confidence in the management of digital threats, and 70% have no to modest confidence in reducing their digital attack surface. Such results were characterized in the report as “both eye-opening and disturbing.”
